Start der Personal Learning Environment der TU Graz

Unsere fast 1,5 jährige Entwicklungszeit macht es nun möglich, dass wir eine Personal Learning Environment (PLE, https://ple.tugraz.at) für die TU Graz ausrollen können. Ab sofort befinden wir uns im Probebetrieb um Erfahrungen mit den BenutzerInnen zu sammeln und Feedback einzuholen.
Weiters möchten wir auch allen Interessierten eine Möglichkeit bieten sich zu informieren bzw. einen Einblick geben. Hierzu kann der Gastzugang unter Verwendung des Logins “Extern” und den Zugangsdarten verwendet werden.

Personal Learning Environment (TU Graz)

Der ZID/Vernetztes Lernen hat einen ersten Prototyp einer Personal Learning Environment (PLE) fertig gestellt, welche nun im Rahmen eines Probebetriebes getestet werden soll. Die PLE ist ein “Personal
Desktop”, der im Web-Browser verwendet werden kann. Neben Services der TU Graz (z.B. Webmail, TeachCenter, TUGRAZonline) können auch andere webbasierte Applikationen wie Facebook oder andere Dienste auf Ihrem Personal Desktop eingebunden werden. Dieses Angebot wird um speziell programmierte Lernobjekte erweitert. Sie können Ihren Personal Desktop völlig frei gestalten und nur jene Module einblenden, die für Sie wichtig sind.

Die TU Graz ist weltweit eine der ersten Universitäten, die ein derartiges Angebot zur Verfügung stellt. Probieren Sie es doch aus — und sagen Sie uns, wie wir es noch verbessern können! Get personal!

    Öffnen Sie https://ple.tugraz.at/ in Ihrem Web-Browser und melden Sie
    sich mit Ihrem TUGRAZonline-Account an.

  • Wie können Sie Verbesserungsvorschläge einbringen?

    Schicken Sie uns einfach ein E-Mail an ple[AT]tugraz.at / tugtc[AT]tugraz.at oder verwenden Sie die Newsgroup tu-graz.ple.

  • Wie können _Sie_ Module für die PLE entwickeln?

    Die Technologie, mit welcher das Personal Learning Environment und seine Module (Widgets) implementiert werden, ist frei zugaenglich, und Open Source. Technologisch handelt es sich um HTML, Javascript und ähnliche, gängige Technologien. Wenn Sie Interesse haben, schicken Sie uns einfach ein E-Mail an tugtc[AT]tugraz.at. Viele der Widgets die Teil der Umgebung sind von Studierenden der TU Graz entwickelt worden.

[publication] Personal Learning Environment – A Conceptual Study

Our publication about “Personal Learning Environment – A Conceptual Study” at the Special Track on “MashUps for Learning (MASHL09)” within the ICL 2009 conference is now online available.
Abstract:

The influence of digital technologies as well as the World Wide Web on education rises dramatically. In former years Learning Management Systems (LMS) were introduced on educational institutes to address the needs both their institutions and their lecturers. Nowadays a shift from an institution-centred approach to a learner- centred one becomes necessary to allow individuality through the learning process and to think about learning strategies in general. In this paper a first approach of a Personal Learning Environment (PLE) is described. The technological concept is pointed out as well as a study about the graphical user-interface done at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz). It can be concluded that PLEs are the next generation environments, which help to improve the learning and teaching behaviour.

[publication] Will Personal Learning Environments Become Ubiquitous through the Use of Widgets?

Our publication “Will Personal Learning Environments Become Ubiquitous through the Use of Widgets?” for this year i-Know Conference is now online available.
Abstract:

Nowadays Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) are described as the use of different social software tools for learning and teaching. The use of common web browsers often is a precondition to fulfil the requirements of social software tools. In this publication a new perspective as well as a couple of prototypes is presented to allow a more independent solution in this context. Using the new JavaFX technology so called widgets are implemented which can be used on different devices as well as different operating systems. Furthermore also the web browser can be replaced by a browser instance. It can be summarized that through the use of widgets the learning environment of the future can be more individualized and personalized.
