[iPhone App] SnailWrite

Die nächste App der heurigen Vorlesung “AK Medientechnologien – iPhone Development” ist ab sofort im App-Store verfügbar. Diese App ist zur Lese- und Schreibunterstützung für die erste Schulstufte angedacht. Im Stile des Klassikers Hangman werden Kinder nach einfachn Worten gefragt bzw. können fehlende Buchstaben ergänzen. Ein weiteres Level ist einfach das zugehörige Bild zum Wort zu finden:

SnailWrite is an educational game, the easier it is to children in early elementary school age to learn reading and writing.
It will be developed here is in compliance in four different modes with different difficulty levels and different words visually processed. According to different principles appropriate child-friendly learning materials can be playfully. [iPhone App] MemoryAccessible

Die nächste App der heurigen Vorlesung “AK Medientechnologien – iPhone Development” ist ab sofort im App-Store verfügbar. Diese App soll Personen mit Einschränkung helfen sich spielend zu verbessern. Die Idee zu dieser App ist Teil einer Doktorarbeit an der TU Graz und wird auch in der Praxis nun erprobt:

The gameplay of this application is based on the well-known memory game. The remarkable thing is that this game supports several modes. The entry can be done with the standard touch the buttons or playing cards or by tilt steering. The output is graphically or acoustically. During the acoustic Version will be issued all game actions, so the navigation and the whole game can be performed without looking at the screen. Also in the presentation of images, there are choices. Thus, with normal or simple images or symbols to be played. The contrast setting provides a more Ability to configure. The player may at any time decide whether a simple, medium or difficult game should be started, which differ in each case the number of pairs of cards. in the simple game are 6 cards in the middle game of 12 cards and 20 cards in the game serious before.

[iPhone App] 1×1 Trainer

Eine weitere App erstellt im Rahmen einer Masterprojektarbeit an der TU Graz ist ab sofort im App-Store verfügbar. Es ist ein Einmal-Eins-Trainer, der in Abhängigkeit vom Ergebnis eine Lernrate berechnet und daraus die nächste Aufgabe ableitet. Dies bedeutet, dass das Programm mit dem Können des Kindes mitlernt und Aufgaben ganz gezielt gestellt werden. Wir haben dazu bereits auch eine Webversion und eine Android App ist ebenfalls in Vorbereitung. Inzwischen viel Spaß einmal mit der iPhone-App:

The 1×1 Trainer is a learning game for children who are trying to master the tables up to ten.
There are two ways to play:

  • The Trainer, where you need to create an account to play and all your learning progress will be saved online for you to keep track.
  • The Speedgame, where you just play a simple 1×1-Game with a time-limit depending on the chosen difficulty and try to answer as many of the 20 presented examples as possible. The better you perform, the higher your Score will be.

This App provides a nice and fun learning experience, motivating the children to improve their abilities and keeping frustration to a minimum!

Diesesmal eine App die den Alltag erleichtern soll, indem man das Auto-Parkticket speichern kann, die Restzeit berechnet und eine Warnung ausgegeben wird, wenn sich die Fußwegstrecke nicht mehr ausgeht 🙂 .

Our contribution “Is the iPhone a Ubiquitous Learning Device? A First Step Towards Digital Lecture Notes” to the book “Ubiquitous Learning – Strategies for Pedagogy, Course Design and Technology” is now published and as draft version online available.
Abstract:

Computing conquers to mobile devices very quickly. Students are among the first to adopt to it even accelerate this progress. This opens new possibilities for teachers to reach and interact with their students but also increases the amount of information a learner has to cope with. This paper describes the idea and prototypical implementation of a method to use the Web and digital devices to ease the digitalization of lecture notes and thus accessibility of information gathered in the course of learning.
