Abstract:

In this paper we have performed a content analysis using a collection of papers from Ed-Media conferences archive. Various current trends in research topics, change of interest in contributions from across the world in the field of e-learning have been described using our internally built visualization tool. This visualization tool reveals the evolution or decline of research themes, hot research topics and key researchers across the world. In addition to this, evolution of countries, continents and institutions across research topics has been described as well.

YouTube Mobile Uploads Up 400% Since iPhone 3GS Launch

iphonevidshot…. ist zwar grundsätzlich nicht überraschend, aber wir sollten bedenken, es ist EIN Telefon, welches diesen Traffic erzeugt. TechCrunch berichtet hier:

If there was any question about the significance of the iPhone 3GS’s impressive video functionality, here’s your answer: YouTube reports that in the six days since the iPhone 3GS was released last week, the number of mobile uploads has increased by a whopping 400%. For a single phone model to have such a major impact on the site is simply phenomenal.

Es scheint als hätte Apple den Puls der Zeit wieder einmal perfekt erfasst – es war nie so einfach seine Videos online zu stellen. Und ich behaupte mal die Auswirkungen werden wir spüren – die Zunahme des digitalen Contents wird uns bald ins Unermessliche steigen und wir uns fragen wie konnten wir in einer Zeit leben wo wir alle diese Dinge nicht hatten. Es ist wohl nur eine Frage der Zeit bis andere Mobiltelefonhersteller nachziehen und dies auch ermöglichen.
Dass ich mir im Zuge von m-Learning hier große Änderungen erwarte, brauch ich nicht anführen. Es wird irgendwann einmal völlig normal sein, dass Bilder, Audios und Videos einfach Teil des Unterrichts sind und ja ich freu mich darauf 🙂 .

Look Back to ED-Media 2009

I was wondering about, what should I write about the ED-Media Conference, but maybe I should share some impressions with you:

  • First of all it was a great conference with such a great location – well done all the staff to bring us such an experience.
  • Furthermore I think we did a great job to bring Twitter to the Conference. There was so many contributors to gather new ideas, discussions and worthful thoughts. I think we are on the best way to integrate this kind of social media in one of the biggest conferences. Also the livestream beside the keynotes worked well and made the presentations interactive (Short video).

  • For the first time I dealed also very deeply with the iPhone and there were so many exciting ways to enhance the whole stay – I recorded talks with audioboo, tweeted pictures and the geotagging of the location. Overall the WiFI was running quite good, so there are no additionally costs

And of course I met many interesting people and thanks all who made our stay here such nice – cu again in future.

I am very glad to announce the 1st Workshop on Web2.0 approaches, tools and technologies to support research on Technology Enhanced Learning (TELSci2.0) at the 4th European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning (EC-TEL09), Nice, France, September 29 – October 2, 2009

This workshop aims to bring together all those who want to turn a vision of the e-scholar and e-scientist of the 21st Century into reality in our own domain of TEL.
The core of significant development in a „2.0 world“ is

  • leveraging web2.0 technologies (that rely on the „social graph“) for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of how we conduct science;
  • the capacity to share and reuse data, and to benchmark scientific activity in the international community.

Key questions for this workshop include:

  • How do we mesh social web2.0 technologies with the scientific workflow?
  • How do we share the data of our activity wider in our community?
  • How do we visualize that data and how do we provide researchers with powerful new frameworks for their scientific endeavor?
