Social Media Stream at ED-Media Conference

Last week this year ED-Media Conference took place in Lisbon, Portugal. I as member of the Steering Committee was elected beforehand to coordinate the Social Media Team. Our task was to handle the Twitter stream (#edmedia11) as well as engage people to interact online.
The result is quite amazing – 4 days of Twitter use leads to more than 3700 tweets (see here a statistic) and a lot of further online material.

Paulo colleted also all URLs of the stream in our own ED-Media Scoop.it Page – take a look on this, I think we did a good work.

Finally thanks a lot to my team for working with you for just 4 days (and it’s worth to follow them on Twitter): @pgsimoes, @_joanasilva_, @etutoria, @AMargaridaMaia, @GCruzMatos, @jjmpleal

[presentation] Web 2.0 in Higher Education

My last presentation at this year ED-Media Conference was about „Web 2.0 in Higher Education“ – it is a rather „traditional“ one, which I did every year for the graduate student stream (ok, some slides were changed a little bit):

[video] Please Vote for Us – Personal Learning Environment

We produced a short video about our Personal Learning Environment of Graz University of Technology to attend the Mediacast Contest of this year PLE Conference in Southampton:

In celebration of User Generated Content we will have a Mediacast Contest during the PLE Conference 2011 with awards for the best three mediacast productions on Personal Learning Environments. The contest is open to all registered conference participants, who can create their own mediacasts, such as vodcasts (video productions) or screencasts (mixed media productions) of three minutes or less sharing their ideas, reflections and applications of Personal Learning Environments and best suggestions for creating such environments for individuals, groups and communities.

Here is our Video – if you like it, please vote for it on VIMEO – thanks a lot:

[app] Dermandar

Echt super Umsetzung:

[tool] PuMo – Monitor your publications on YouTube, Scribd and Slideshare

Industry and economy already have detected the World Wide Web, or the web, as a PR-instrument. Both its enormous popularity as well as its outstunning dynamics can only let us guess the broad audience, which the web adresses. Views, downloads and clicks now are well-established definitions of webmonitoring, which aims at modelling reputation of diverse companies in numbers.
The interesting development of the web leads to the question, how webmonitoring can be installed in research and science. Thus, the outcome of this master project is to build the fundaments for the webmonitoring of publications. Supported publications include videos on YouTube, documents on Scribd as well as presentations on Slideshare, all well-known Web-2.0-plattforms, which more and more scientists use to publicize their project reports and documents.
Hence, aim is the construction of this online plattform, which collects metrics of publications in form of views, clicks, rating, etc., evaluates and finally visualizes these metrics.

[video] Can I be your friend?
