[mooc] Grundbegriffe der Mechanik für technische Anwendungen #imoox #leoben

Der dritte MINT-MOOC – nach den Mathematik– und Informatik-MINT-MOOCs – ist nun gestartet. Diesesmal geht es um „Grundbegriffe der Mechanik für technische Anwendungen“ und richtet sich speziell an Studienanfängerinnen und -anfänger. Danke an die Montanuniverstität Leoben für die Erarbeitung der Inhalte.

Das Fach „Mechanik“ bildet eine der zentralen Säulen ingenieurwissenschaftlicher Studien. Der Kurs richtet sich an angehende Absolventen allgemeinbildender oder berufsbildender Schulen, die vor der Entscheidung für ein Studium stehen. Anhand eines einfachen Beispiels aus der Technik sollen die erste Einblicke in die Terminologie des Fachs vermittelt werden. Darüber hinaus sollen die Kursteilnehmer die Herangehensweise des Ingenieurs an praxisrelevante technisch-naturwissenschaftliche Fragestellungen kennenlernen.

[mooc] Informatik-FIT #tugraz #imoox

Heute startet wieder der MOOC zu „Informatik-FIT“ auf iMooX.at mit dem Ziel Studienanfängerinnen und -anfänger einen guten Einstieg zu ermöglichen.

Ziel des Kurses ist es, den Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern ein umfassendes Bild der Informatik zugänglich zu machen und ein grundlegendes Verständnis für Prozesse und Vorgänge in der Informatik bzw. der Programmierung zu vermitteln. Es soll gezeigt werden, dass Informatik Spaß macht, stark mit Kreativität verbunden ist und spannende Fragen bereithält.

Der Kurs ist natürlich kostenlos und für Studierende der TU Graz gibt es in Zusammenhang mit einer Lehrveranstaltung auch ein Zeugnis dafür. Das alles erfährt man dann im Kurs

[mooc] The European Neighbourhood Policy and Cross-Border Cooperation #imoox

We are happy to announce that today a new MOOC is starting titled „The European Neighbourhood Policy and Cross-Border Cooperation„:

The European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) has increased the reach and clout of the EU beyond its borders into the immediate vicinity. Yet, the EU vs. non-EU discrepancies at the economic and political level are still very much visible in the eastern borderlands of the EU which comprise areas of land under the jurisdiction of both the EU and the Eastern Partnership (EaP) states. Thus, in line with the 2015 ENP Review and the subsequent 2016 Global Strategy for the EU’s Foreign and Security Policy (EUGS), which both emphasised the urgent need for reconsideration of the EU’s neighbourhood and external instruments, the role of borderland regions has also been seen as prominent for enhancing cooperation between Eastern European EU and non-EU members and for strengthening regional stability and security.
This course addresses all students interested to enhance their knowledge in issues ranging from the EU’s actorness, the ENP and the EaP to cross-border cooperation.
This MOOC aims at equipping students, young professionals, civil society representatives, public servants, etc. with basic knowledge and practical experience in the (geo)political, economic and social processes occurring in European Union (EU)’s eastern neighbourhood. 

As usual the participation is completly free, so just register and have fun with this online course.

[poster] Open Tools and Methods to Support the Development of MOOCs: A Collection of How-tos, Monster Assignment and Kits #tugraz #imoox #emoocs21

We are happy that we did a poster presentation at this year EMOOCS21 about „Open Tools and Methods to Support the Development of MOOCs: A Collection of How-tos, Monster Assignment and Kits„.

Abstract:
There are a plethora of ways to guide and support people to learn about MOOC (massive open online course) development, from their first interest, sourcing supportive resources, methods and tools to better aid their understanding of the concepts and pedagogical approaches of MOOC design, to becoming a MOOC developer. This contribution highlights tools and methods that are openly available and re-usable under Creative Commons licenses. Our collection builds upon the experiences from three MOOC development and hosting teams with joint experiences of several hundred MOOCs (University of Applied Sciences in Lübeck, Graz University of Technology, University of Glasgow) in three European countries, which are Germany, Austria and the UK. The contribution recommends and shares experiences with short articles and poster for first information sharing a Monster MOOC assignment for beginners, a MOOC canvas for first sketches, the MOOC design kit for details of instructional design and a MOOC for MOOC makers and a MOOC map as introduction into a certain MOOC platform.

We did a small contribution to this year Language Learning conference, which happened as onlince conference, titled: „BY PUPILS FOR STUDENTS: EXPERIENCE WITH THE MOOC „TENSES EXPLAINED““

Abstract:
Usually, it is the university teachers who develop educational resources for their students. The development procedure presented in this article differs significantly from common processes: Students aged about 15 years (9th grade) were actively involved in the production of videos for a language learning MOOC, which is primarily aimed at university students. The article pursues the question of how and with what effects students were involved in the video production for a language MOOC. We systematically describe the background and processes of the development of the MOOC „Tenses Explained“ and the final result. The paper gives insights into the processes and activities of more than 600 participants so far through data from the MOOC platform MooX.at. In addition, the aim is to share the experience in the form of insights in processes as well lessons learned.
