[workshop] Videos in der (Hochschul-) Lehre #workshop #tugraz

Für das Amt für Film und Medien in Bozen führe ich heute einen Workshop rund um Lernvideos durch. Es geht dabei vor allem darum Videogestützte Lehr- und Lernszenarien zu planen, zu entwickeln und durchzuführen. Die Beschreibung des Workshops:

Videos in der Lehre sind eigentliche keine didaktische Innovation, rücken aber vor allem in Zusammenhang mit offenen Online-Kursen immer mehr in den Mittelpunkt heutiger Lehre. Da es heute so einfach wie nie zuvor ist bewegtes Bildmaterial zu erstellen, gewinnen sie immer mehr an Bedeutung.
Dieser Workshop soll einen ersten Einblick geben, welche Möglichkeiten Dozierende/Lehrende haben und wie man seinen eigenen Unterricht weiter optimieren kann. Lerntheoretische Grundlagen, didaktische Überlegungen sind ebenso Inhalt wie erste einfache Handreichungen und Tipps für den eigenen Einsatz.

Tag der Informatik Fachdidaktik #conference #RFDZI

RFDZIFast schon traditionell findet auch heuer der Tag der Informatik Fachdidaktik an der PH Steiermark statt und wird topaktuell sich dem Thema Making widmen. Als Keynotes konnten wir Sandra Schön und Gregor Lütolf gewinnen. Darüberhinaus biete ich zusammen mit meinem Masterstudenten und meinem PhD-Kandidaten zwei spannende Workshops an:

  • Makingaktivitäten mit SchülerInnen: Im Rahmen des Workshops werden Makeraktivitäten vorgestellt, die einerseits an den ersten Makerdays for Kids bzw. beim MakerMOOC durchgeführt worden sind und anderseits an einer österreichischen Schule im Einsatz waren. Im Workshop werden auch die ein oder andere Aktivität gezeigt (z.B. VR‐Brille zum Selbermachen) und konkrete didaktische Einsatzszenarien besprochen und diskutiert.
  • Das digitale individuelle Mathematikübungsheft: In diesem Workshop wird vorgestellt wie man moderne Technologien mit automatisch generierter Mathematikbeispiele einer neuen Webplattform verwenden kann um das individuelle Lernen der Schülerinnen und Schüler stärker zu fördern. Weiters wird auch deren Einsatz im Unterricht in Verbindung mit Tablets in Kombination mit Cloud‐Diensten gezeigt und besprochen bzw. kann auch vor Ort ausprobiert werden.

Our conference paper about „Benchmarking the Effectiveness of Associating Chains of Links for Exploratory Semantic Search“ at this year 4th International Workshop on Intelligent Exploration of Semantic Data (IESD 2015) is now online.
Abstract:

Linked Data offers an entity-based infrastructure to resolve indirect relations between resources, expressed as chains of links. If we could benchmark how effective retrieving chains of links from these sources is, we can motivate why they are a reliable addition for exploratory search interfaces. A vast number of applications could reap the benefits from encouraging insights in this field. Especially all kinds of knowledge discovery tasks related for instance to ad-hoc decision support and digital assistance systems. In this paper, we explain a benchmark model for evaluating the effectiveness of associating chains of links with keyword-based queries. We illustrate the benchmark model with an example case using academic library and conference metadata where we measured precision involving targeted expert users and directed it towards search effectiveness. This kind of typical semantic search engine evaluation focusing on information retrieval metrics such as precision is typically biased towards the final result only. However, in an exploratory search scenario, the dynamics of the intermediary links that could lead to potentially relevant discoveries are not to be neglected
