Students using laptops in the lecture:
(PLS – Personal Learning System)
1. note taking
– typing, pen handwriting
– laptop, netbook, tablet PC, graphic tablet, web tablet
– PDF Xver, OneNote, InkSeine, Basket, Circus Ponies NoteBook
scenario: professor makes lesson paper available for download one week before lecture session – student download, read, high light (yellow) annotate (green, pre-session-notes), articulates questions (orange) – students post question to professor and fellow students (forum, blog comment, etc.) – professor use the question to prepare session – student brings his laptop to to session and takes additional notes (red, in-session-notes) – esp. notes the answer to his or FAQ of other students
the in-session-notes (red) will be most likely of high relevance to the topic
2. lecture chat
(see lectures from Stephen Downes)
scenario: students log in to a live lecture chat – ask and answer questions – contribute even with fun to the session
– a log file of the session chat would be available on the PLS
– students could utilize the chat a session notes
3. adhoc assessment
